3 Questions Before Trying to Catch A Rat

Catching a rat doesn’t have to be an adventure story for your customers. It can be simple, safe and effective with Victor®’s step-by-step strategies on how to catch a rat.

Most importantly, let your customers in on the biggest secret in rat-catching: Rat control is all about working smart, not hard. When they understand how rats will interact with a trap, their catches will be easier.

After decades of experience, we’ve also discovered the other secrets to rat control. They can be uncovered by asking three basic questions:

1.) WHERE DO YOU LIVE?

Location determines treatment plans. If you live in a coastal state, your customers are likely dealing with Roof rats. Folks in the middle of the map will most likely have to treat for Norway rats. Check out our handy visual aid to help to further identify which species they are up against.

Both of these rat species can be trapped with electronic rat traps from Victor®, which can be used in any indoor location.

2) WHERE ARE THEY SEEING SIGNS OF ACTIVITY?

Have they heard scurrying in the attic? Discovered droppings in the basement? Noticed gnaw marks? Your customers need to tune into the rat’s behaviors to determine where to set traps. Ultrasonic Rodent Repellers are a low-maintenance option for securing hard-to-reach spaces where rats might be hiding.

3) WHAT CAN YOU DO TO CREATE AN UNDESIRABLE ENVIRONMENT FOR THE RATS?

A few simple practices:

  • Remove food sources
  • Seal open cracks and crevices
  • Regularly clean and secure areas where food is stored.

Prevention is your customer’s first line of defense against rat infestation, so be sure to point them to any inventory items that they can use to secure their home and keep it clean.

After that, turn to Victor® for its line of rat traps and repellants. We offer traditional rat traps, electronic rat traps and ultrasonic devices that drive them away.
