7 Reasons to Deal with Moles Immediately
Advise your customers to take action against moles as soon as they discover them on their property. We know this because, over the years, we’ve heard many tales of the problems moles cause.
As your customer’s go-to resource for mole solutions, be prepared to sympathize with their concerns and offer them ideas on what to do next, all courtesy of the Victor® mole-fighting arsenal.
If you don’t think we’ve heard them all, here are a few of the most common problems people encounter when moles invade a yard, pasture or garden.
1. “I NEARLY BROKE MY ANKLE!”
A major problem for property owners with mole infestations are the injuries! Moles tunneling through a yard create holes and burrows that lead to twisted and even broken ankles. For livestock and horse owners, it’s even worse. They have to worry about keeping their animals safe as well. A cow or horse can easily break a leg by falling through mole holes and trails.
2. “I SPENT ALL WEEKEND ON CATCHING THIS THING!”
Moles also steal precious R&R time on a weekend. A lot of our consumers say they’ve wasted a ton of time fighting moles until they come upon Victor® mole solutions. With Victor® products there are multiple options to kill or drive off these pest animals.
3. “MY HUSBAND IS OBSESSED!”
If your customer isn’t the one waging war against the mole, then the unlucky combatant is probably their significant other! It’s not uncommon for someone to go a little nuts in the quest to rid the yard of moles. Some say their spouses were up all night stalking moles, others say the husband lets loose on a crazy anti-mole rant. Provide your weary customer with a little marital bliss by suggesting a few Victor® products, such as Victor® Mole & Gopher Granular Repellents or Victor® Out O’Sight Mole Traps.
4. “THEY KILLED MY FAVORITE TREE!”
It’s the same old story, but worth repeating: A common theme from customers is the destruction of tree roots, bulbs and crops by those frustrating moles. It just breaks our heart! This is where our products, including Victor® Sonic Spikes, are especially helpful.
5. “IT’S SUCH A CUTE LITTLE ANIMAL, THOUGH!”
Yep, we admit it -- moles are incredibly cute, but they definitely need to be treated like a fugitive on the FBI’s Most Wanted List. Cute or not, it’s your duty to advise your customers to do everything they can do to protect their lawn, garden and ornamental plants. If they don’t take action now, there won’t be much left to save.
6. “I THINK IT’S A SHREW, NOT A MOLE … OR MAYBE IT’S A GOPHER?”
Sometimes our customers confuse moles with other critters – it’s easy to mix up shrews, groundhogs, gophers and voles. Thankfully, we’ve got help to combat all these fellas! Battle groundhogs by trapping them in a Havahart® live animal trap. Deal with gophers and moles with Victor® Mole & Gopher Traps. Voles can be trapped in most Victor® snap traps.
Note: Shrews are generally good for your backyard ecosystem, so advise your customers to leave them alone!
7. “A RODENT DESTROYED MY $3,200 LAWN MOWER!”
Moles create dangerous situations for your lawn equipment, too. We often hear from the folks who work at ground zero. Groundskeepers from coast to coast have weighed in, bemoaning damaged lawn mowers and broken weed eaters thanks to moles and their equipment-devouring holes. That danger is why your customers need to deal with them sooner rather than later.
